As electrochemical methodologies continue to unveil their unique reactivity, electrochemistry is increasingly becoming a pivotal tool in the arsenal of process chemists. Despite its growing importance, the challenge of limited experience in scaling up these methodologies persists within the industry. To address this, chemists in Boehringer Ingelheim participated in reactor design and meticulously carried out safety assessments during the scaling-up trial of flow electrochemistry. This comprehensive approach was aimed at deepening our understanding of the nuances involved in scaling up, thereby ensuring the delivery of safe, sustainable, and reliable electrochemical processes for chemical process development.
