The journal Mitteilungen der Division of Environmental Chemistry and Ecotoxicology is the official member magazine of the Division of Environmental Chemistry & Ecotoxicology. The first volume was published in 1998. Until 2005, the journal was published by Wiley-VCH (Weinheim); since 2006, the Division has published Mitt. Umweltchem. Ecotox. on its own. From 2026, the four online issues per year can be accessed as PDF and as a flip catalogue.

The communications inform Division members about the activities of the Divisions (annual meetings, board work etc.) and their working groups. The work in the Divisions is a flagship of the GDCh and enables its members to have a competent voice and representation in the public and political arena in the many problem areas in which chemistry plays a role today. Original articles, news etc. report on current topics.
The PRO and CONTRA sections are intended to present opposing points of view on a scientific basis in order to stimulate discussion and point out the need for further research - especially on problems of an interdisciplinary nature. PRO and CONTRA are interchangeable. CONTRA is not intended to encourage inactivity. There is no conclusive statement in many areas of environmental protection; however, this does not absolve us from taking precautions and measures for timely prevention. On the other hand, the opposing viewpoint should not be characterised as a frivolous attitude. The scientific debate must be conducted independently of external influences. Consensus should be reached wherever possible. We look forward to receiving your letters to the editor and suggestions for topics. Please also inform us about honours, appointments and nominations of members, so that the solidarity within the Division can be further increased.
