Supramolecular structures such as metallosupramolecular and covalent organic cages can be self-assembled from relatively simple building blocks exploiting the reversibility of metal-ligand and dynamic covalent bonds, respectively, for error-checking during the self-assembly process. The incorporation of stimuli-responsive functionality into their design enables tuning of their properties (e.g. host-guest chemistry) in response to stimuli, such as light and chemicals. This talk will present two types of stimuli-responsive supramolecular systems: dynamic covalent systems based on amidoboronates and stimuli-responsive metallosupramolecular cages.
