Young Water Forum
The Young Water Forum (JWF) is the association of young researchers within the Water Chemistry Society, a Division of the Society of Water Chemistry (GDCh). The idea for such a formation first came up during the WASSER 2024 in Limburg an der Lahn. In addition to the opportunity for networking and exchange, the JWF offers the chance to contribute your own ideas and visions to the Society of Water Chemistry.

There is no age limit. We welcome all students, doctoral candidates, postdocs and scientists during their career planning and organisation who feel they belong and can benefit from the services on offer. We also explicitly encourage international scientists to get involved.

At WATER 2025 in Münster, the JWF was represented for the first time with its own programme items. Before the start, we met in the city for an interactive escape game and during the Conference we organised the 1st Career Lunch:
Idea: The Career Lunch offers the opportunity to exchange ideas with the speakers in a small group and ask questions. The focus is not (only) on the respective research, but also on the individual career, experiences abroad, the idea of science, everyday working life, tips and advice and basically everything that interests the JWF members. The Career Lunch is therefore intended to offer a form of dialogue that is not the focus of specialist lectures or networking activities. To this end, questions were collected in advance, which the speakers answered in short keynote speeches focussing on specific topics. Afterwards, there was time for further questions.
Speakers: For the Career Lunch 2025, we were able to welcome PD Dr Elisabeth Janssen from EAWAG, deputy head of the "Environmental Chemistry of Biomolecules and Macromolecular Pollutants" department, as well as Dr Alexander Weizel, group leader

Who can register: In principle, anyone who thinks they would benefit from the exchange. There is no age limit. If you are unsure, just come along and give it a try. A prerequisite for participation in the event is membership of the Society of Water Chemistry. A little tip: membership is free of charge for GDCh members who are studying or doing a doctorate.
Other:Since the career lunch takes place during the lunch break, food and drinks will be provided.
