What we eat every day concerns us all. Nobody wants spoilt or counterfeit food. Fortunately, there are inspection offices that check what goes on the market. On our 12th SEC Technology Tour to Oldenburg, we had the rare opportunity to visit such an office!
The Lebensmittel- und Veterinärinstitut Oldenburg (LVI) opened its doors especially for us on 28 Sep. 2022. After an introductory lecture, in which food counterfeiting played a special role, we learnt about various testing methods in groups of 10 people.
Timetable

From 4 pm City tour of Oldenburg (if you arrive earlier)
7 pm Dinner together in the Ratskeller
10 - 12:30 a.m. Tour of the LVI in Oldenburg
1 - 2 p.m. Joint snack
2 - 3 p.m. Trip "to the countryside": Bad Zwischenahn
3 - 4 p.m. Walk in the Bad Zwischenahn spa gardens
4 - 4:40 p.m. boat to Dreibergen
16:40-18 Coffee (or beer or...) at Fährkroog
18:10-18:40 Ship back to Bad Zwischenahn
18:40-19 h Return journey to Hatterwüsting
19-23 h Dinner together at Restaurant Meiners and end of the day
