PhD Award Nuclear Chemistry
§1 The Board of the Division of Nuclear Chemistry decides to award a PhD Award of the Division. The number of award winners is limited to three per competition.
§2 The prize is awarded for an outstanding dissertation in the field of nuclear chemistry. The submitted work should generally be completed and evaluated in the period between the Division's annual meetings (usually two years).
§3 University teaching and doctoral members of the Division are eligible to nominate candidates. The members of the Board of the Division and the Advisory Board form the jury. They decide by a simple majority of votes. In the event of a tie, the Division Chair has the casting vote.
§4 Applications must be submitted in electronic form to the GDCh Office. The application contains the following documents:
● Nomination letter from the proposer incl. justification of the award worthiness
● Dissertation and a selected publication with justification of the selection
● Doctoral degree certificate or provisional certificate,
● CV with list of publications / lectures / posters / scholarships & prizes
§5 The prize includes a certificate of award, stating the merits of the honouree, and prize money of 500 euros.
§6 The prizewinner reports on the award-winning work in an invited lecture at the Division conference.
§7 Amendments to these statutes are only possible with a 2/3 majority of the Board of the Division.
Decision of the Board of 28 April 2025, Frankfurt am Main
The Board of Directors of the GDCh Division of Nuclear Chemistry invites applications for the PhD Award Nuclear Chemistry to be awarded in 2026. The prize will be awarded at the annual conference of the division, which will take place from 22 to 24 September 2026 in Mainz.
The prize is awarded for an outstanding dissertation in the field of nuclear chemistry. The dissertation must have been completed and assessed in the period from 1 March 2024 to 31 March 2026. The prize consists of a certificate recognising the merits of the recipient and prize money of 500 euros. The award winner will also be given the opportunity to report on the award-winning work in an invited lecture at the annual conference of the specialist group. The PhD Award can be presented to up to three winners.
University teaching staff and members of the Division with a doctorate are eligible to nominate candidates. The letter of nomination, including justification of eligibility for the award, should be accompanied by the dissertation, a selected publication with reasons for the selection, a CV with a list of publications, lectures, posters, scholarships and awards, as well as the doctoral certificate or a provisional certificate.
Proposals - self-applications are excluded - must be submitted in electronic form by 31 March 2026 to the Board of the Division of Nuclear Chemistry, n.buerger@gdch.de.
