The Division "Freelance Chemists and owners of free independent laboratories" awards the Martin Heinrich Klaproth Award. The award statutes regulate the details as follows:

Articles of Association for the Martin Heinrich Klaproth Award

§ 1 The Board of the Division of Freelancer Chemists and Owners of Free Independent Laboratories decides to award a prize of the Division under the name of the Martin Heinrich Klaproth Award.

§ 2 The prize shall be awarded to colleagues for innovative independent work in the field of chemical freelance work.

§ 3 Members of the Division, university teaching staff and Heads of chemical laboratories are eligible to nominate candidates. The members of the Board of the Division form the jury. They decide by a simple majority of votes.

§ 4 The award includes a certificate that highlights the merits of the honouree. The prize money is set at 1000 euros.

§ 5 The award winner reports on their work at the Division's annual conference.
