Chemists in Civil Service

Chemists are employed in the public service, for example in the state monitoring offices, in the environmental authorities of the federal, state and local governments and in many other areas such as the fire service and customs offices.
The spectrum of their activities is correspondingly diverse. It ranges from pure research activities, work in laboratories and scientific administration to consulting, assessment and monitoring activities.
The declared aim of the Working Group, which was founded in March 1994 and elevated to the rank of a GDCh Division of Chemists in Civil Service in December 2004, is to

The work of the members of the Chemists in Civil Service is at the interface between business, science and society. In addition to their chemical expertise, they require extensive knowledge of legal regulations and socio-political backgrounds.
They participate in the public debate to objectify publicly relevant issues, acting as a neutral and objective link.

The Board of the Division, which is elected for a four-year term, consists of the Chairman, two deputies and at least one but no more than four assessors.
